When I got home, my parents asked me how I spent on the prom king crown (was free). Left shortly afterwards, didn't know until the day after that I was supposed to have a dance with the prom queen. Did a bit of crowdsurfing, that was actually pretty fun. They announced halfway that I was voted prom king (the other non-white student was the runner-up). I went to prom with two other dateless guys, my best friend being one of them. I asked her, but prom wasn't her thing either and she decided to stay home after assuring me 100x that it's not because of me. Essentially every girl had been asked and taken at this point, but my best friend told me to ask his girlfriend. It would reflect badly on the school and graduating class if the prom king didn't even attend prom, so I had to go. The week before prom, the shortlist containing the names of 5 people to possibly become prom king was released and my name was on that list. Prom really isn't my thing, so I didn't plan on going. There were only two non-white students in my graduating class, and I was one of them. Was voted prom king but didn't get a date. >!insert spoiler here!< Other subreddits you might like: some
